TOOL drummer Danny Carey and the Cult’s John Tempesta went Beast Mode for Seattle Seahawks fans last night (October 25th) while leading the team’s Blue Thunder drumline through a percussive jam.
The team-up took place at the Emerald City’s Lumen Field, just ahead of the Seahawks’ week 7 match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs. Carey and Tempesta were seated side-by-side, and they thwacked matching kits flocked with the Blue Thunder squad’s bird-and-bolt-emblazoned logo. The rest of Blue Thunder were beating kicking drums, snares and splash cymbals.
Together, they locked into a tribal rhythm, with a touch of polyrhythmic percussiveness for good measure. You can check it out down below.
Notably, both Carey and former White Zombie/Exodus/Testament skinsman Tempesta were wearing #12, the retired jersey number a reference to loud-as-hell Seahawks fans being the unofficial “12th Man” on the roster.
Did Carey, Tempesta and Blue Thunder’s communal beating end up working wonders for the home team? Considering the ‘Hawks trounced the Chiefs 20-3, we’re inclined to say yes. It only makes sense — Carey also provided drums this year for experimental flick Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
